My husband! I am so irritated with him at this moment...I could just beat him!He has decided that he is reverting back to teen-ism and is OBSESSED/ADDICTED (whichever) with VIDEO GAMES!! And not just any video game; it's a RPG (Role Playing Game) called Ancient Anguish online with no pictures, no color..nothing. It is just typing and using your imagination. AAAGH!!
He plays it all day long when he's home and I have to repeat anything and everything I say a million times. (Sorry. I am venting)
We got into an argument about it the other night and he thinks I am over-exaggerating. I don't mind a little game time now and then, but when it interferes with family time (which is rare since he works 2 jobs and goes to school), then I get mad!
Yesterday was the last straw! He was logged on all day and would come sit at the computer every 5 minutes to play. He says he has to gather medicine, etc, or he will die. He is talking about it like it's real life...it's really making me want to hurt him! lol
I would say that we should just end internet service, but then I would be lost without my email. hahaha He sometimes will have to work until 3am and then be up and out the door by 8am, but he still will sit and play his game til 430 in the morning. Then when he gets home from work, he naps then plays his game. Kill me!
Oh, I forgot to mention the time he called me from work and wanted me to log on and do things FOR HIM! If I could have reached the phone and strangled him to death, I would have. Men!!! They are such turds sometimes. Instead of playing a game with us or watching a movie, he sits here all damn day. The other part that irks me is that a lot of the time he will have Collin sit on his lap while he plays. Two reasons:
A. I don't want Collin to be a 'gamer'. I want him to use his imagination, play outside and be a kid. Not a video game addict like most kids these days. I have made it a rule that he isn't to play any games like that until he is MUCH older (if at all... Call me a bad mom.)
B. McClain thinks that this counts as time spent with Collin. Need I say more????
Anyway.. I won't get over this one. I am sticking to my guns and going to make some drastic changes (i.e. internet cancellation) if this continues. I tried talking about it with him, but he just says that he deserves to play it since he works so hard. I can see where he is coming from, but when DO I GET THE TIME to do things I WANT TO DO like that? I still have to be mommy even when he is home. Where's my Ancient Anguish??

Oh Man Mal, I don't blame you! I'd grab him by the balls, and tell him to get his act together! No, really though, I would break my computer! I would be pissed. I'm so glad Seth is not into playing video games!!! He would fight all the time probably!
ReplyDeleteI agree they are ok once in awhile, but not when you have a family! Love ya! Vent away!
He's teaching Collin how to read and use his imagination to translate words into images. It's a critical life-skill. Almost as important as learning to blow one's nose.
