I had a good, long bawling session watching Oprah today. I don't normally watch her show. I don't know why, but I just never have. We don't have cable, so if I am REALLY bored, I will sit down and watch daytime television. Today was one of those bored days : ) (I better enjoy it while it lasts!)
The show was about the Coble family. In May 2007, the mom was driving on the highway with her 3 kids when a semi slammed into her from behind, killing all three of her children.
It was honestly the saddest thing I have ever heard and could not control my crying. Their kids were 5, 4 and 2. Two girls and one boy. The story is long and complicated and I don't want to go into full detail on here, but if you want to know the rest, I suggest you look it up and read their tragic story.
The end of the segment was about the miracle that happened a year, almost to the day, later.
They decided they wanted to have joy and love back in their lives, so they were trying to have more children. She became pregnant and found out they were having triplets: two girls and one boy! They look almost identical to the other three kids and they carry their middle names, as well. This is where the tears were really flowing! I am not one that believe in 'miracles' per se, but this is just one of those things that happens and there is no other way to explain it.
The story was so touching and made me so thankful for my little family. I am never not thankful, but sometimes, after long days of being sick and tired, it takes a little something like this story to put it into perspective.
The story was horribly sad, but it also showed how the parents came together instead of falling apart and how they held each other up and went through the tragedy of losing their children together. It was truly touching. I hope everyone that reads this gives their kiddos EXTRA hugs and kisses before bed tonight and realize that life is so fragile... Never take anything for granted.
