NANA!!

Nana came from Oregon to visit and we had so much fun! I HATE it when she has to leave. I always cry. Being a gilr and being the oldest (FIRST BORN!! HA!) I think it makes me that much closer to my mommy. We did a lot of fun things while she was here and she spoiled us to death. Thank you, Mama!
Collin and I are going to fly out next month to visit her and Jory. I can't stand only seeing my mom every 3 or 4 months.. it's too hard. I need my mommy!
We miss you and love you, Nana. Can't wait to be with you again!

Wasatch Reptile Expo 2009

Collin and I went to the Reptile Expo at the Fairgrounds today. It was so cool! I have never seen so many reptiles (or creepy people) in one place at one time!! hahaha
We saw all different types of snakes, some I hadn't even heard of before. That made me want to get a snake again. I had a 7 foot Carpet Python when I met McClain. There just wasn't room for her in our new apartment. They had teeny, tiny snakes as thin as shoe laces and huge pythons and boas, too.
My favorite, of course, were the frogs! We got so excited when we saw all the frogs and toads. My favorite are the poison dart frogs. They had some as small as your pinky nail that they call 'Thumbnails' because that is only how big they get! So cute!
They had turtles/tortoises, geckos, dragons, spiders...pretty much everything you can imagine! There were hedgehogs and ferrets too. We got a bunch of free stuff and super cheap things too! If you haven't been and you are a reptile/amphibian lover, you should definitely go.
I spent $5 to get in and $5 on merchandise that normally would have cost me WELL over $50 in a pet shop. Plus, your kids will love it! It is jam-packed full of people, but it's worth it to show your kids animals they wouldn't normally see and they can touch and learn, too. I pet a GIANT Boa Constrictor and a Black and White Tegu (they are so cool!)
Can't wait until next year! I am saving up so I can get my itty bitty dart frogs! : )

The Aquarium

Collin LOVES the aquarium! His most recent favorite (besides the Nemo fish) are the sharks! We could have sat there and watched them all day and he would have been the happiest kid on the planet. We pulled in to the parking lot and he started yelling "Shark! Shark!" I don't know where the sudden interest came from, but he is so fascinated by them.
We went once at the beginning of the year and liked it so much that the next time we went, we bought a year pass. We go quite often, at least once a month, sometimes more. It is a great little 'peek' of what is to come. We can't wait for the penguin exhibit! It will be so neat. I, of course, LOVE the frogs they have. I take pictures of them every time I go. I probably have as many of them as I do of Collin at the aquarium LOL. If you haven't taken your munchkins, you should! It's the same admission price as the zoo and you're inside which is nice during hot weather and cold weather. The Sting Ray touching pool is awesome and they have another area where you can touch starfish, brittle stars, etc. When we went last time, they had shark eggs with baby sharks in them! They had a light behind them so you could see them moving inside the egg. It was so neat!
They have food, drinks, play area, and toys to buy. We never leave without buying something! Plus, if you subscribe the the email newsletter, you get discounts and a calendar of events like feedings, shows, etc. I recommend the aquarium on days you just don't have anything to do. I just let Collin run wild in there and then he sleeps like a baby afterward. Good fun and a great learning experience!

Our Animal Friends (Just call me Mrs. Doolittle)

These are our birds, Jade and Cheeky.
Cheeky is a Galah or Rose Breasted Cockatoo
He talks, whistles and loves to run around the house like a chicken.
Jade is a Nanday Conure.
She is super vocal! She loves to scream, but she refuses to talk.
They are part of our little family and we love them dearly!

Oregon 2008

This was us last summer, 2008. We drove to Oregon to see my mom and sister. Collin's first road trip. We are in McClain's car (which for those of you who don't know, is a modified Acura RSX.. meaning that is has a LOUD exhaust). Collin started teething..it was a disaster and a blast all at the same time! Collin was only 5 months, so he did pretty well for a 1st time road-tripper! This was us at the coast. It was a beautiful day which is rare. That was a great vacation. I loved seeing my family and spending time with them. I am so lucky to have such a great mom! Love you mommy!! MUH!
